Musical examples to be heard or downloaded on this page are taken from The Music Lab, a band I directed back in the 90ies, or from different other musical formations I worked with as a producer or artistic director. For each (or about) example, you have two choices : either in "real" format (left) or in mp3 format (right).

Music Lab's excerpts (Modal Jazz) are composed by myself, or inspired from traditionnal tunes: a few further examples relate to Bands produced by EAC (i.e. KARIKA of Kabalan Samaha - New Age Jazz, or In-Version leaded by Joelle Khoury - Contemporary Jazz).

The second series of excerpts consist in examples taken from the "Musiques Francophones : Liban, 2001 - 2002" CD, co-produced with the Intergovernmental Agency of Frenchspeaking Countries, with two parts correponding respectively to the year 2001 (Itinerant Music Festival) and to the year 2002 (Francophonie Workshops).

Further excerpts feature improvisations by Saad Saab (Lebanese `ûd player) and myself on the `ûd (Version n°3, concept by the author), and, last but not least, the last series of excerpts takes you to a special page from which you can download most of the music featured on the Modal Systematics accompanying CD-R.

Nota : for "real" listening, it may be useful to check your hardware parameters (options in Realplayer) in order to lower the CPU usage (for processors less than one Gigabyte).
